Before you or or your loved one chooses to do so, however, you must know that the current H1N1 vaccines have NOT been rigorously tested for safety - we&#8217;re not even taking about efficacy.</p>
<p>And, in truth, taking a look at the swine flu situation around the world, this virus looks like a relatively minor condition, with not much of a stir raised; if the swine flu is considered a &#8220;pandemic&#8221;, what about the regular flu, cancer, heart disease, stroke, and what not? Shouldn&#8217;t they be considered &#8220;zandemics&#8221;? One really has to wonder WHY the authorities insist on exaggerating the dangers, instilling fear in the people and promoting vaccines. And it isn&#8217;t hard for one to figure out that political and monetary influences are at play.</p>
<p>Then there is the broader question of flu vaccines and vaccines in general - do they actually work? Is there scientific evidence of their effectiveness? Alarming, there is little, if not none, and yet this medical protocol is pushed upon the population as though its efficacy is hard fact. Frightening. You&#8217;re about to be treated to some little-known information demonstrating why seasonal flu vaccines are utterly worthless and why their continued promotion is based entirely on fabricated studies and medical mythology.</p>
<p>If the whole world knew what you&#8217;re about to read here, the vaccine industry would collapse overnight.</p>
<p>This information comes to you courtesy of a brilliant article published in <em>The Atlantic</em> (November 2009). The article, written by Shannon Brownlee and Jeanne Lenzer, isn&#8217;t just brilliant; in my opinion it stands as the best article on flu vaccines that has ever been published in the popular press. Entitled <em>Does the vaccine matter? </em>, it presents some of the most eye-opening information you&#8217;ve probably ever read about the failure of flu vaccines. <p>Perhaps its impressive narrative shouldn&#8217;t be too surprising, though, since writer Shannon Brownlee is also the celebrated author of a phenomenal book on modern medicine entitled <em>Overtreated: Why Too Much Medicine Is Making Us Sicker and Poorer</em> (http://www.amazon.com/Overtreated-Medicine-Making-Sicker-Poorer/dp/1582345791) (http://www.naturalpedia.com/book_Overtreated.html).</p>
<p>While I&#8217;ve never done this before, I&#8217;m going to summarize this article point by point (along with some comments) so that you get the full force of what&#8217;s finally been put into print.</p>
<p>This information is so important that I encourage you to share the following summary I&#8217;ve put together. Email it to family, friends and coworkers. Or post it on your blog or website (with a link and proper credit to both NaturalNews and <em>The Atlantic</em>, please). Get this information out to the world. <b>People need to know this</b>, and so far the mainstream media has utterly failed to make this information known.</p>

<b>Does the vaccine matter?</b><br />
<em>What follows is my point-by-point summary of this groundbreaking article by Shannon Brownlee, originally published in The Atlantic. My opinion statements are shown in brackets and italics.</em></p>
<p>• Vaccination is the core strategy of the U.S. government&#8217;s plan to combat the swine flu.</p>
<p>• The U.S. government has spent roughly $3 billion stockpiling vaccines and anti-viral drugs.</p>
<p>• The CDC is recommending that 159 million Americans receive a swine flu vaccine injection (as soon as possible).</p>
<p>• What if vaccines don&#8217;t work? More and more researchers are skeptical about whether they do.</p>
<p>• Seasonal flu (that&#8217;s the regular flu) currently kills an estimated 36,000 people each year in the United States. <em> [But most people who die are already suffering from existing diseases such as asthma.]</em></p>
<p>• Most &#8220;colds&#8221; aren&#8217;t really caused by the flu virus. As few as 7 or 8 percent (and at most, 50 percent) of colds have an influenza origin. There are more than 200 viruses and pathogens that can cause &#8220;influenza-like&#8221; illnesses (and therefore be easily mistaken for the flu).</p>
<p>• Viruses mutate with amazing speed, meaning that each year&#8217;s circulating influenza is genetically different from the previous year.</p>
<p>• The vaccine for each upcoming flu season is formulated by health experts taking a guess <em>[a wild guess, at times] </em> about what strain of influenza might be most likely to circulate in the future. </p>
<p>• The 1918 Spanish Flu infected roughly one-third of the world population and killed at least 40 million.</p>
<p>• In the U.S., the President&#8217;s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology predicted that H1N1 influenza could infect up to one-half of the U.S. population and kill 90,000 Americans.</p>
<p><em>[Keep reading, the good part is coming...]</em></p>
<p>• Of those who have died from the Swine Flu in the U.S., roughly 70 percent were already diseased with some serious underlying condition such as asthma or AIDS.</p>
<p>• Public health officials consider vaccines to be their first and best weapon against influenza. Vaccines helped eradicate smallpox and polio. <em>[I don't agree with that assessment. Vaccines did relatively little compared to improvements in public sanitation.] </em></p>
<p>• Each year, 100 million Americans get vaccinated, and vaccines remain &#8220;a staple&#8221; of public health policy in the United States.<br />
<b>Why the research is bogus</b><br />
• Because researchers can&#8217;t exactly pin down who has influenza and who doesn&#8217;t, the research conducted on the effectiveness of vaccines simply calculates <b>the death rate from all causes</b> among those who take the vaccine vs. those who don&#8217;t. <em>[This includes deaths from accidents, heart attacks, medications, car wrecks and everything.]</em></p>
<p>• These studies show a &#8220;dramatic difference&#8221; between the death rates of those who get the vaccines vs. those who don&#8217;t. People who get vaccinated have significantly lower death rates <em>[from ALL causes, and herein lies the problem...]</em>.</p>
<p>• Flu shot propaganda cites these studies, telling people that if they get their flu shots every year, they will have a significantly reduced chance of dying. But this is extremely misleading&#8230;</p>
<p>• Critics question the logic of these studies: As it turns out, compared to the number of deaths from all causes, the number of people killed by influenza is <b>quite small</b>. According to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, deaths from influenza account for &#8212; at most &#8212; <b>10 percent</b> of the total deaths during the flu season (and this includes all indirect deaths aggravated by the flu).</p>
<p>• This brings up a hugely important dilemma: If influenza only accounts for roughly 10 percent of all deaths during the flu season, <b>how could an influenza vaccine reduce total deaths by 50 percent?</b> (As is claimed by the vaccine manufacturers.) <em>[It doesn't add up. Even if the vaccines were 100% effective, they should only reduce the total death rates by 10%, given that only 10% of the total deaths are caused by influenza.] </em></p>
<p>• Here&#8217;s a direct quote from the story: Tom Jefferson, a physician based in Rome and the head of the Vaccines Field at the Cochrane Collaboration, a highly respected international network of researchers who appraise medical evidence, says: &#8220;For a vaccine to reduce mortality by 50 percent and up to 90 percent in some studies means it has to prevent deaths not just from influenza, but also from falls, fires, heart disease, strokes, and car accidents. <b>That&#8217;s not a vaccine, that&#8217;s a miracle.</b>&#8221; [Emphasis added.]<br />
<b>The failure of cohort studies</b><br />
• So how do the vaccine companies come up with this &#8220;50% reduction in death rate&#8221; statistic? Through <b>cohort studies</b>.</p>
<p>• Cohort studies compare the death rates of large groups of people who received the vaccine to large groups of people who did NOT receive the vaccine. But there&#8217;s a fatal flaw in this approach: <b>People self-select for vaccinations</b>. And what kind of people? As it turns out: People who take more precautions with their health!</p>
<p>• <em>[Thus, you automatically have a situation where the more health-cautious people are getting the vaccines because they THINK it's good for them. Meanwhile all the masses of people who don't give a darn about their health tend to skip the seasonal flu vaccines. And these people tend to not take very good of their health in lots of other ways. In other words, in terms of the masses, people who get vaccines are more likely to avoid junk food and live a more health-cautious lifestyle. <b>This explains the differences in the death rates between the two groups!</b> It has nothing to do with the vaccine...]</em></p>
<p>• There is extreme &#8220;cult-like&#8221; peer pressure put on doctors and researchers to swallow the vaccine mythology without question. Quoted from the story: Lisa Jackson, a physician and senior investigator with the Group Health Research Center, in Seattle, began wondering aloud to colleagues if maybe something was amiss with the estimate of 50 percent mortality reduction for people who get flu vaccine, the response she got sounded more like doctrine than science. &#8220;People told me, &#8216;No good can come of [asking] this,&#8217;&#8221; she says. &#8220;&#8216;Potentially a lot of bad could happen&#8217; for me professionally by raising any criticism that might dissuade people from getting vaccinated, because of course, &#8216;We know that vaccine works.&#8217; This was the prevailing wisdom.&#8221; <em>[In other words, don't dare question the vaccine, and don't ask tough scientific questions because the vaccine industry runs on dogma, not science... and if you ask any questions, you might find yourself out of a job...]</em>.</p>
<p><em>[Here's where the really good part begins...]</em></p>
<p>• Lisa Jackson was not deterred. She and three other researchers began to study the widely-quoted vaccine statistics in an attempt to identify this &#8220;healthy user effect,&#8221; if any. They looked through eight years of medical data covering 72,000 people aged 65 or older and recorded who received flu shots and who didn&#8217;t. Then they compared the death rates for all causes <b>outside the flu season</b>.<br />
<b>The vaccine made no difference in mortality</b><br />
• What she found blows a hole right through the vaccination industry: She found that even outside the flu season, the death rate was 60 percent higher among those who did not get vaccines than among those who do. <em>[In other words, even when you take the flu season completely out of the equation, elderly people who don't get vaccines have other lifestyle factors that makes them far more likely to die from lots of other causes.] </em></p>
<p>• She also found that this so-called &#8220;healthy user effect&#8221; <b>explains the entire apparent benefit that continues to be attributed to vaccines</b>. This finding demonstrates that <b>the flu vaccine may not have any beneficial effect whatsoever in reducing mortality</b>.</p>
<p>• How well done were these particular studies? Quoted from the story: Jackson&#8217;s papers &#8220;are beautiful,&#8221; says Lone Simonsen, who is a professor of global health at George Washington University, in Washington, D.C., and an internationally recognized expert in influenza and vaccine epidemiology. &#8220;They are classic studies in epidemiology, they are so carefully done.&#8221;</p>
<p>• Many pro-vaccine experts simply refused to believe the results of this study <em>[because it conflicts with their existing belief in vaccine mythology] </em>. The <em>Journal of the American Medical Association</em> refused to publish her research, even stating, &#8220;To accept these results would be to say that the earth is flat!&#8221; <em>[Which just goes to show you how deeply ingrained the current vaccine mythology is in the minds of conventional medical practitioners. They simply cannot imagine that vaccines don't work, so they dismiss any evidence -- even GOOD evidence -- demonstrating that fact. This is what makes the vaccine industry a CULT rather than a science.] </em></p>
<p>• Jackson&#8217;s papers were finally published in 2006, in the <em>International Journal of Epidemiology</em>.</p>
<p><em>[And here's the really, really juicy part you can't miss...]</em><br />
<b>Vaccine shortage proves it never worked in the first place</b><br />
• The history of the flu vaccine reveals some huge gaps in current vaccination mythology, essentially proving they don&#8217;t work:</p>
<p>• For example: In 2004, vaccine production was low and there was a shortage in vaccines (a 40 percent reduction in vaccinations). And yet <b>mortality rates did not rise</b> during the flu season. <em>[Clearly, if vaccines actually worked, then a year when the vaccine wasn't even administered to 40% of the people who normally get it should have resulted in a huge and statistically significant increase in mortality. It should have spiked the death rates and filled the morgues... but it didn't. You know why? Because flu vaccines don't work in the first place.] </em></p>
<p>• In the history of flu vaccines, there were <b>two years</b> in which the formulated flu vaccine was a total mismatch to the widely-circulating influenza that made people sick. These years were <b>1968</b> and <b>1997</b>. In both of these years, the vaccine was a completely mismatch for the circulating virus. In effect, <b>nobody was vaccinated!</b> <em>[Knowing this, if the vaccine itself was effective at reducing death rates, then we should have once again seen a huge spike in the death rates during these two years, right? Seriously, if the vaccine reduces death rates by 50% as is claimed by vaccine manufacturers, then these two years in which the vaccine completely missed the mark should have seen huge spikes in the winter death rates, right? But what really happened was... nothing. Not a blip. Not a spike. Nothing. The death rates didn't rise at all.]</em></p>
<p>• If vaccines really worked to save lives, then the more people you vaccinate, the lower death rates you should see, right? But <b>that&#8217;s not the case</b>. Back in 1989, only 15 percent of over-65 people got vaccinated against the flu. But today, thanks to the big vaccine push, over 65 percent are vaccinated. And yet, amazingly, death rates among the elderly have not gone down during the flu season. In fact, they&#8217;ve gone up!</p>
<p>• When vaccine promoters (and CDC officials) are challenged about the &#8220;50 percent mortality reduction&#8221; myth, they invoke dogmatic language and attack the messenger. They are simply not willing to consider the possibility that <b>flu vaccines simply don&#8217;t work</b>.</p>
<p>• Scientists who question the vaccine mythology are routinely shunned by the medical establishment. Tom Jefferson from the Cochrane Collaboration is an epidemiologist who questions the claimed benefits of flu vaccines. &#8220;The reaction [against Jefferson] has been so dogmatic and even hysterical that you&#8217;d think he was advocating stealing babies&#8221; said a colleague (Majumdar).</p>
<p>• Jefferson is one of the world&#8217;s best-informed researchers on the flu vaccine. He leads a team of researchers who have examined hundreds of vaccine studies. To quote directly from the article: The vast majority of the studies were deeply flawed, says Jefferson. &#8220;Rubbish is not a scientific term, but I think it&#8217;s the term that applies [to these studies].&#8221;</p>
<p><em>[And here's the real kicker that demonstrates why flu vaccines are useless...]</em><br />
<b>Flu vaccines only &#8220;work&#8221; on people who don&#8217;t need them</b><br />
• Vaccines supposedly &#8220;work&#8221; by introducing a weakened viral strain that causes the immune system to respond by building influenza antibodies. However, as Jefferson points out, <b>only healthy people produce a good antibody response to the vaccine</b>. And yet it is precisely the unhealthy people &#8212; the ones who have a poor immune response to the vaccine &#8212; who are most at risk of being harmed or killed by influenza. But the vaccines don&#8217;t work in them!</p>
<p>• <em><b>[In other words -- get this -- flu vaccines only "work" in people who don't need them!]</b></em></p>
<p>• <em>[At the same time, it's also accurate to say that <b>vaccines don't work at all in the very people who theoretically could benefit from them</b>. They only produce antibodies in people who already have such a strong immune response that they don't need the vaccine in the first place.] </em></p>
<p>• Jefferson has called for randomized, placebo-controlled studies of the vaccines. But <b>vaccine pushers are resisting these clinical trials!</b> They call the trials &#8220;unethical&#8221; <em>[but, in reality, they know that a randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled study would reveal the complete failure of flu vaccines, and they will do anything to prevent such a trial from happening. Don't you find it amazing that drug pushers and vaccine advocates claim they have "science" on their side, but they won't submit their vaccines to any real science at all?</em>]</p>
<p>• <em>[No placebo-controlled studies have ever been conducted on flu vaccines because the industry says they would be "unethical." So where do these people get off claiming their vaccines work at all? The whole industry is based on fabricated statistics that are provably false... and the injections continue, year after year, with absolutely no benefit to public health whatsoever...] </em><br />
<b>Why anti-viral drugs don&#8217;t work either</b><br />
• On the anti-viral drug front, hospitals are urged to hand out prescriptions for Tamiflu and Relenza to almost anyone who is symptomatic, whether they actually have swine flu or not. Concern is growing about the emergence of drug-resistant strains of swine flu. &#8221; Flu can become resistant to Tamiflu in a matter of days&#8230;&#8221; says one researcher.</p>
<p>• In 2005, the U.S. government spent $1.8 billion to stockpile antiviral drugs for the military. This decision was made during the time when Donald Rumsfeld was Defense Secretary. Rumsfeld also held millions of dollars worth of stock in <em>Gilead Sciences</em>, the company that holds the patent on Tamiflu. That company saw its stock price rise 50 percent following the government&#8217;s stockpiling purchase of Tamiflu.</p>
<p>• The evidence supporting Tamiflu&#8217;s anti-viral benefits is flimsy at best. Even worse, as many as one in five children taking Tamiflu experience neuropsychiatric side effects including hallucinations and suicidal behavior. <em>[In other words, your kid might be "tripping out" on some bad Tamiflu...]</em></p>
<p>• Tamiflu is already linked to 50 deaths of children in Japan.</p>
<p>• The evidence supporting Tamiflu is based on <b>cohort studies</b>, just like the vaccines, which may distort or exaggerate the apparent benefits of the drug.</p>
<p>• Even supporters of Tamiflu admit it&#8217;s never been proven to help. A CDC official says that randomized trials to determine the effectiveness of Tamiflu would be &#8220;unethical.&#8221;</p>
<p>• In all, neither vaccines nor anti-viral drugs have any reliable evidence that they work against influenza at all. Both are being promoted based entirely on pure wishful thinking, not hard science.</p>
<p>• The history of pharmaceutical medicine is littered with other examples of drugs that doctors &#8220;knew worked&#8221; but which later turned out to harm or kill patients. <em>[All along, the proper scientific studies were avoided because, hey, if you already know everything, why bother conducting any actual science to prove anything?]</em></p>
<p>• The hype about vaccines provides a false sense of security, taking away attention from other things that really do work to prevent influenza deaths. That&#8217;s why, except for &#8220;hand washing,&#8221; virtually no advice has been offered to the public on preventing influenza beyond vaccines and anti-viral drugs.</p>
<p>• Concluding quote from the author: &#8220;By being afraid to do the proper studies now, we may be condemning ourselves to using treatments based on illusion and faith rather than sound science.&#8221;<br />
<b>A recap of these astonishing points</b><br />
Let&#8217;s recap what we just learned here (because it&#8217;s just mind-boggling):</p>
<p>• There have been no placebo-controlled studies on flu vaccines because the vaccine pushers say such clinical trials would be &#8220;unethical.&#8221; Thus, there is actually no hard scientific evidence that they work at all.</p>
<p>• The &#8220;50 percent reduction in mortality&#8221; statistic that&#8217;s tossed around by vaccine pushers is a total fabrication based on &#8220;rubbish&#8221; studies (&#8221;cohort&#8221; studies).</p>
<p>• Scrutinizing the existing studies that claim to support vaccines reveals that <b>flu vaccines simply don&#8217;t work</b>. And when vaccines aren&#8217;t available or the formulation is wrong, there&#8217;s no spike in death rates, indicating quite conclusively that these vaccines offer no reduction in mortality.</p>
<p>• Flu vaccines only produce antibodies in people who don&#8217;t need vaccines. At the same time, they fail to produce antibodies in people who are most vulnerable to flu. Thus, vaccines only work in people who don&#8217;t need them.</p>
<p>• The entire flu vaccine industry is run like a cult, with dogma ruling over science. Anyone who asks tough, scientific questions is immediately branded a heretic. No one is allowed to question the status quo. (So much for &#8220;evidence-based medicine,&#8221; huh?)</p>
<p>As you can see from all this, <b>the flu vaccine is pure quackery</b>. Those who administer vaccines are, by inference, QUACKS. They claim to have scientific minds, and yet they are the most gullible of all: <b>They will believe almost anything if it&#8217;s published in a medical journal</b>, even if it&#8217;s complete quackery.</p>
<p>Today, countless doctors, nurses and pharmacists across North America and around the world are pushing a medically worthless, scientifically-fabricated chemical injection that offers absolutely no benefit to public health&#8230; and yet they&#8217;re convinced it&#8217;s highly effective! It just goes to show you how easy it is to brainwash people in the field of conventional medicine.</p>
<p>They&#8217;ve abandoned real science long ago, you know. Now the whole industry is just run on the momentum of dogmatic arrogance and the illusion of authority. From the CDC and FDA on down to the local pharmacist at the corner store, the American medical system is run by some seemingly smart people who have been brainwashed into become full-fledged members of the <em>Cult of Pharmacology</em> where vaccine mythology overrules real science.</p>
<p>The vaccine industry is perhaps the greatest medical scam ever pulled off in the history of the world. Don&#8217;t fall for it.</p>

Reading everything you&#8217;ve read here, you might wonder: Why do people get vaccinated at all?</p>
<p>The reason is because <b>no one knows whether they work or not</b>, so people keep on taking them &#8220;just in case.&#8221; It&#8217;s exactly the kind of superstitious ritual that &#8220;science-minded skeptics&#8221; rail against on a regular basis&#8230; unless, of course, it involves their vaccines, in which case superstition is all okay.</p>
<p>People take vaccines for the same reason they rub a rabbit&#8217;s foot. It&#8217;s a <em>good luck ritual</em> that may or may not work, but no one really knows. And besides, what&#8217;s the harm in it? (They think&#8230;)</p>
<p>Personally, I&#8217;d rather get some vitamin D and have a healthy, functioning immune system. But for those who prefer to play the lotto, gamble in Vegas or bet their lives on medical superstitions, flu vaccines are readily available.</p>
<p>So what are you waiting for? Shoot up a few flu vaccines, rub your lucky rabbit&#8217;s foot, then spin around clockwise seven times and you, too, may be able to generate enough luck to avoid the flu this winter.</p>

You should be aware  of the fact that losing weight should be done  as part of a gradual process  Not only is it better for your metabolism, but it will also get you used to performing the right habits and therefore less likely to get back in the bad old ways later on.   <span id="more-132"></span></p>

<p>One of the biggest worries people have about starting a weight loss routine is how to fit it into their lives. With people leading increasingly busy lives it sometimes seems like a chore on how to fit everything in. <p>Fruits and vegetables are packed with beneficial fibers, vitamins and antioxidants. They fill up your stomach fast so you feel full earlier. They are also low in calories and helps to keep your calorie count low. Snacking on some grapes or a nice juicy apple is the one of the best ways to fight off the hunger pangs with the added advantage that you are actually doing your body a lot of good by eating them.</p>
<p>I’m sure you have heard the old expression ‘ His eyes were bigger than his belly’ . If you stop to think about it though it is actually very true. In the last twenty years or so portions sizes have increased significantly in the diets of the western world. Particularly in the USA - the birth place of the supersize phenomenon where just one meal from a fast food restaurant can contain over 3000 calories! That&#8217;s more  than the recommended amount for an entire days eating.</p>
<p>In the home as well, cheaper food from the supermarket – especially on pre frozen processed foods such as burgers and pizzas, etc – has led to a noticeable increase in portion sizes in the home. The simple fact of the matter behind a lot of obesity is that people eat more than they need to. Or they don’t drink enough liquids like water at the table – mistaking dehydration for hunger. </p>
<p>Think about your own portions. If you are exceeding the recommended daily limit. See how you can cut down on a day to day basis. Even if this is by just 300 calories a day over a week that adds up to one days worth of food</p>
<p>Unless you have a photographic memory this last tip is very important. Day to day you really want to be conscious of what you are putting into your body throughout the day. With this in mind you might want to consider keeping a daily food journal recording everything that goes into your body.</p>
<p>This journal should be kept accurately and honestly with the exact foods and times documented. Don’t be tempted to miss out foods that you count as cheats should you give into temptation.                        </p>
<p>Use this journal to look for trends in your eating habits. For instance, is there a certain time of the day that you are more likely to eat than others? With this knowledge on  hand you will be better prepared to form a strategy to prevent mistakes occurring in the future.</p>

<p>The problem with this though is that it is actually counterproductive to avoid breakfast. In fact, studies have revealed that far from causing you to lose calories skipping breakfast can greatly increase your chances of gaining weight.   <span id="more-124"></span></p>

<p>There are several reasons for this. One of the main ones is that breakfast acts to fire up the body’s metabolism for the rest of the day. By delaying this process you will be less energetic and less able to cope with processing the foodstuffs and snacks that enter your body at a later time in the day</p>
<p>Also those who skip this very important meal at the start of tyhe day, tend to end up eating more towards the end of it. Try to  make sure that your breakfast is a healthy one avoiding fatty and processed foods, such as bacon or sausages. Stick to wholegrain cereals, whole meal bread, fruit and boiled eggs.</p>
<p>No Plan Of Action</p>
<p>A lot of people fall at the first hurdle because they do not develop a  plan of attack. Making the commitment to lose weight is one thing but if you do not know how you are going to proceed with achieving your goals then how do you expect to reach them ? </p>
<p>Many people often fail to succeed with their diet because they do not have a plan. This is a shame because there are so many people who start off motivated and end up losing it without knowing exactly why</p>
<p>Things to consider are how much weight you want to lose? The different food strategies you are going to employ. Possible obstacles along the way etc. Without a plan there is a strong chance that your motivation gives way to procrastination and failure.</p>
<p>Dieting does not mean the same thing as starving yourself. It is very easy to fall in to the trap of thinking that a dieting is a form of deprivation. Worse than that is the idea that starving yourself is the only sure fire way to ensure weight loss success.</p>
<p>Not only can starving yourself lead to feelings of deprivation it also has a significant impact on the metabolism.  The body’s metabolism begins to slow down  - alerting the brain to the need for sustenance and energy.  This will in turn lead to overwhelming compulsions to binge on quick fix’s in order to get  calories into the body. </p>
<p>The key to dieting is quite simple - eating a variety of different foodstuffs that are not processed or high in sugars and fat.  Learn to fill up on what is good for you and construct a diet plan based on the huge variety of good  foodstuffs out there.</p>
<p>Sadly, despite lots of advice out there about it, not enough people looking to lose weight are drinking enough water. Water is an excellent weight loss tool and here is why.  A common misinterpretation of the body’s warning signals is the feeling of thirst. The feeling of dehydration is very easily confused as hunger pangs.</p>
<p>As an experiment next time you have hunger pangs - soon after you have already eaten – drink a glass of water. You should find that your cravings subside considerably.</p>
<p>In addition, getting enough water either directly or from fruit and veg  assists your metabolism in burning up calories quicker. Remember that if you are really serious about losing weight then maintaining water levels is a really big help.</p>
<p>A lot of weight loss plans fail when the individual gets frustrated from a lack of immediate benefit. The issue here often seems to be that the initial expectations  of the weight loss regime are set too high.  Failure to reach these goals leads to dejection, anxiety and eventual reluctance to continue the plan.</p>
<p>One way around this of course is to set more realistic or smaller goals. Accept that nothing happens overnight and that any move in the right direction is better than the opposite  scenario.</p>
<p>You should also think about the immediate benefits gained from exercise. Think about how more energetic and alert you feel during exercise and afterwards. Think of the other benefits you may notice such as better sleep. Remember – there is a lot more to exercise than just weight loss.</p>

<p>Often hypnosis is used to help people achieve their weight loss goals. In this article I will show you how to do that without any fancy<br />
hypnotist or high fees.   <span id="more-122"></span></p>

<p>The sub conscious mind is the most powerful force in any human<br />
being. When you first learned to drive you had to think about every<br />
single thing to keep that car driving in the way you wanted to.<br />
Gears, mirrors, indicators, steering and many other factors were<br />
constantly thought about. After a while though all of these become<br />
a habit. You repeat them so many times that your conscious mind no<br />
longer has to think about them. Your sub conscious runs you on auto<br />
pilot to carry out the manoeuvres.</p>
<p>So what does this have to do with weight loss? Well by using a<br />
concept called &#8220;auto suggestion&#8221; you can help your sub conscious<br />
mind &#8220;reprogram&#8221; yourself to stick to diets, eat healthier foods,<br />
enjoy working out (seriously) and much more.</p>
<p>The reason so many people fail to lose weight is because they<br />
program themselves for failure each and every time they try a new<br />
diet. Because of bad experiences with shoddy diet programs in the<br />
past they often tell themselves &#8220;This won&#8217;t work for me&#8221; and give<br />
up a few weeks in. Think about whenever you&#8217;ve tried to diet in the<br />
past. How long did you stick at? Probably not long enough if you&#8217;re<br />
honest with yourself.</p>
<p>The technique I am to teach you now will enable you to starve<br />
yourself of these negative thought patterns that you are constantly<br />
bombarding your sub conscious mind with. Let&#8217;s retrain yourself<br />
to be more positive about your weight loss and in turn develop a<br />
thick skin that won&#8217;t give up whenever a diet doesn&#8217;t show instant<br />
and massive results.</p>
<p>Your emotions and thoughts are like signals. Whenever you feel bad<br />
about weight loss or dieting and have thoughts such as &#8220;I&#8217;m always<br />
going to be overweight&#8221; stop what you&#8217;re doing and follow these<br />
steps.</p>
<p>Step One. Think about what it is that makes you feel you&#8217;ll always<br />
be overweight. You&#8217;ll get an image come into your mind. Maybe it&#8217;s<br />
of you feeling down about a diet or you in the future and you<br />
haven&#8217;t lost any weight.</p>
<p>Step Two. Pay attention to this image. This is your unconscious<br />
telling you what thought is holding you back in your quest for<br />
dieting. This is the image that you consistently put into your sub<br />
conscious. You have programmed yourself to think this way and<br />
that&#8217;s why it is so easy to give up on diets when things get a<br />
little tough.</p>
<p>Step Three. Drain all the colour out of the image. Shrink it and<br />
move it into the distance. If it happens to reappear repeat the<br />
process. Drain it, shrink it and put it into the distance.</p>
<p>Step Four. Replace the image with an image of what you really want<br />
to be like. Fit, healthy and at your perfect weight. Get<br />
emotionally involved with the image. Think of how great it would<br />
feel to have lost all the weight you want to. Make it full colour<br />
and bring it closer to you.</p>
<p>Step Five. Hold your thumb and middle fingers together when you<br />
feel that rush of excitement about the new future you.</p>
<p>Whilst this may all sound a little crazy this a very cool technique<br />
for programming your sub conscious. If you do this every time you<br />
feel a little down about weight loss or have any negative thoughts<br />
soon it will become a habit.</p>
<p>Eventually you will have created &#8220;a mind anchor&#8221; so that you can<br />
press your thumb and middle fingers together and get the rush of<br />
excitement about your new, slim self. Any time you feel negative<br />
about weight loss you put your fingers together and your sub<br />
conscious will recognise this habit and use it to your advantage.</p>
<p>Ok. I do understand that this may seem a little &#8220;out there&#8221; but<br />
this is based on the science of Neuro Linguistic Programming. This<br />
is not some pie in the sky idea thought up by a lunatic. It is<br />
based on the science of the mind and it works in reprogramming<br />
yourself. Give it a go and stick at it!</p>

and in this article I&#8217;ll explain why it happens, and how to combat<br />

<p>Stress it not just a mental reaction but a physical condition. When<br />
places under stress your body will produce adrenaline but it also<br />
produces a hormone called Cortisol. This hormone is responsible for<br />
pumping energy in the form of sugar into the body to fuel the<br />
adrenalin rush. Stress is then a natural bodily function designed<br />
to help keep us alive and reactive to things going on in the world.   <span id="more-120"></span></p>

<p>Unfortunately there is then a negative by-product if you are not<br />
using this energy. Stress in the modern world often takes the form<br />
of money worries, issues in the office, family problems and much<br />
more. The extra blood sugar that is being released has nowhere to<br />
to except settle around your stomach to be used later. As fat.</p>
<p>Because of this many people are keeping or gaining weight without<br />
even realising it. Of course, there are other factors, but stress<br />
is one that very few people talk about. Stress however needs to be<br />
controlled and fought against such as an unhealthy diet needs to<br />
be. It may be the one thing stopping you from losing the pounds you<br />
so desperately want to.</p>
<p>Stress and anxiety is in fact a double edged sword. Not only does<br />
it produce the excess blood sugars that turn to fat but it also<br />
encourages you to use food as a comfort tool. You may tuck into<br />
chocolate or fast food for that instant hit that is the culinary<br />
equivalent of a warm hug from a loved one.</p>
<p>Eating these foods that are bad for you when you are stressed does<br />
not mean you are weak minded. You are just following your<br />
biological programming. Tests on rats have shown that under stress<br />
organisms naturally engage in pleasure seeking behaviour. In<br />
particular high calorie food.</p>
<p>Other tests have shown that men who only manage to get four hours<br />
sleep a night have on average a thirty seven percent higher level<br />
of Cortisol (the hormone that is responsible for energy - sugar)<br />
that those who get a full eight hours? And what is one of the<br />
biggest reasons for lack of sleep? Stress!</p>
<p>On top of that it is imperative you get a good nights sleep when<br />
trying to shed the pounds because a deep sleep leads to higher<br />
secretions of a natural occurring hormone called Human Growth<br />
Hormone. This protects your muscle mass and it is muscle that helps<br />
to maintain a steady burning metabolism. We&#8217;re not talking<br />
bodybuilder type muscle here either. Just the natural kind we all<br />

<p>Of course if you are already stressed the chances are you are not<br />
getting enough sleep already and so are caught in a vicious circle<br />
that is affecting your weight loss. Going to your doctors to ask<br />
about prescriptive sleeping tablets are one option, but should be<br />
used alongside a healthy lifestyle not in place of one.<br />
Fortunately, despite stress being the silent diet killer, there are<br />
some easy ways to fight it.</p>
<p>Firstly with a little bit of exercise you can help yourself get an<br />
easier nights sleep which kills two birds with one stone. Just a<br />
brisk walk every day will be enough for your body to fall to sleep<br />
naturally at the end of the day.</p>
<p>A good breakfast is also associated with reduced stress levels.<br />
Skipping breakfast is just asking for trouble and will actually<br />
have a negative effect on your weight loss. You need to eat<br />
breakfast to fuel your energy resources. This will also manage your<br />
Cortisol levels. Cereal is especially good at this.</p>
<p>Fish, although not to everyone&#8217;s liking, is another food that<br />
should be added to your diet to reduce stress and therefore help<br />
weight loss. Oily fish particularly are high in Omega 3. A tin of<br />
boneless sardines costs little and is delicious on toast. This<br />
alone contains a weeks worth of Omega 3 which is great for your<br />
diet plan.</p>
<p>Finally learn to accept stress and use it. In other words make<br />
stress work for you. We all need a little stress to keep us on our<br />
toes and in this day and age it is everywhere. The trick is to put<br />
things into perspective and ask yourself &#8220;Are things really that<br />
bad?&#8221;. There are sick children and sadness across the world and<br />
often we let every day things stress us out needlessly. Remember,<br />
combating stress with a healthy diet could just be the miracle<br />
weight loss plan you&#8217;ve been looking for.</p>

<p>This article surfaces a major concern regarding conventional soy products, including infant formulas - many of the non-organic varieties are contaminated with the solvent hexane, a toxic chemical. This adds on to all the information already available on the severe state of poisoning of our food supply today.   <span id="more-111"></span></p>

<p><strong>Soy Protein Used in &#8220;Natural&#8221; Foods Bathed in Toxic Solvent Hexane</strong></p>

<p>Virtually all &#8220;protein bars&#8221; on the market today are made with soy protein. Many infant formula products are also made with soy protein, and thousands of vegetarian products (veggie burgers, veggie cheese, &#8220;natural&#8221; food bars, etc.) are made with soy protein. That soy protein is almost always described as safe and &#8220;natural&#8221; by the companies using it. But there&#8217;s a dirty little secret the soy product industry doesn&#8217;t want you to know: <strong>Much of the &#8220;natural&#8221; soy protein used in foods today is bathed in a toxic, explosive chemical solvent known as hexane</strong>.</p>
<p>To determine the true extent of this hexane contamination, NaturalNews joined forces with the Cornucopia Institute (www.Cornucopia.org) to conduct testing of hexane residues in soy meal and soy grits using FDA-approved and USDA-approved laboratories. The Cornucopia Institute performed the bulk of this effort, and NaturalNews provided funding to help cover laboratory costs.</p>
<p>The results proved to be worrisome: <strong>Hexane residues of 21ppm were discovered in soy meal</strong> commonly used to produce soy protein for infant formula, protein bars and vegetarian food products.</p>
<p>These laboratory results appear to indicate that <strong>consumers who purchase common soy products might be exposing themselves (and their children) to residues of the toxic chemical HEXANE</strong> &#8212; a neurotoxic substance produced as a byproduct of gasoline refining.</p>
<p>But how dangerous is hexane, exactly? Is it something that could be dangerous at a few parts per million? And which soy-based products on the market right now might be contaminated with hexane?</p>
<p>To answer these questions, NaturalNews looked into public documents surrounding <strong>Martek Biosciences Corporation</strong>, a company that manufactures DHA for infant formula, using hexane for extraction.</p>
<p>We found disturbing details about Martek, including a documented explosion in the wastewater treatment system downstream from the manufacturing plant. This explosion was caused by hexane pollution.</p>
<p>We also found documents revealing Martek&#8217;s application for permission to pollute hexane into the environment, as well as a planned emission cap that would put the company just under the limit for being considered a &#8220;major polluter&#8221; of Hazardous Air Pollutants.</p>

<p><strong>What you probably never knew about Hexane extraction</strong></p>
<p>To learn more about the use of hexane in the health industry &#8212; and in soy products in particular &#8212; we turn to the Cornucopia Institute&#8217;s recently-published report called <em>Behind the Bean</em> (http://www.cornucopia.org/2009/05/soy-report-and-scorecard/)</p>
<p>This report contains some of the most shocking information you&#8217;ve probably ever read about the possible dangers of this chemical solvent used in the processing of soy. Here are some highlights of what it explains about hexane: (Quotation marks indicate exact verbiage from the <em>Behind the Bean</em> report.) </p>
<p>• Hexane is a petroleum chemical produced as a by-product of gasoline refining.</p>
<p>• &#8220;Hexane is used to process nearly all conventional soy protein ingredients and edible oils and is prohibited when processing organic foods.&#8221;</p>
<p>• Soybeans are bathed in hexane as part of their processing by food manufacturers.</p>
<p>• &#8220;Hexane is a neurotoxic chemical that poses serious occupational hazards to workers, is an environmental air pollutant, and can contaminate food.&#8221;</p>
<p>• Hexane has been detected as a chemical contaminant in soy-based foods.</p>
<p>• There is no requirement that food companies test their products for hexane residues (including soy-based infant formula).</p>
<p>• Soy protein isolate and texturized soy protein (TVP) are made using hexane baths.</p>
<p>• &#8220;The soy protein ingredients in most nonorganic foods such as vegetarian burgers and nutrition bars are processed with the use of hexane.&#8221;</p>
<p>• Shocker: &#8220;Products such as Clif Bars with the label &#8220;made with organic oats and soybeans&#8221; are required by law to have 70% organic ingredients &#8212; the remaining 30%, however, can legally be hexane extracted.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Soybean processing releases hexane into the environment</strong></p>
<p>Perhaps one of the most shocking realizations in all this is that soybean processing facilities release huge amounts of hexane chemicals into the environment. It is an unavoidable part of the hexane extraction process, and right now <strong>tens of millions of pounds of hexane are being released into the atmosphere each year by soy processing companies</strong> like Archer Daniels Midland and Cargill.</p>

<p>• Soybean processing plants release hexane into both the air and water.</p>
<p>• Hexane is considered by the EPA to be a hazardous air pollutant. It defines this as airborne compounds &#8220;that cause or may cause cancer or other serious health effects, such as reproductive effects or birth defects, or adverse environmental and ecological effects.&#8221;</p>
<p>• &#8220;In 2007, the last year for which data is available from the EPA Toxics Release Inventory, grain processors were responsible for more than two-thirds of all hexane emissions in the United States, releasing 21 million pounds of this hazardous air pollutants.&#8221;</p>
<p>• A soy processing facility owned by Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) in Decatur Illinois reportedly released almost 2 million pounds of hexane into the environment in a single year! Each year in Illinois, ADM, Cargill, Bunge and other companies release nearly 5 million pounds of hexane into the environment.</p>
<p>• &#8220;Solae, a major supplier of soy protein ingredients found in vegetarian burgers, energy bars, and other &#8220;all-natural&#8221; foods, emitted nearly one million pounds of hexane, as a pollutant, from its factories in Ohio and Illinois. Its plant in Bellevue, Ohio, is the nation&#8217;s seventh largest emitter of hexane, releasing more of this hazardous air pollutant than other major sources such as Exxon Mobil&#8217;s oil refinery plant in Baytow, Texas, and Firestone&#8217;s tire factory in Orange, Texas.&#8221;</p>
<p>• &#8220;On August 29, 2003, two workers died when hexane gas in a Sioux City, Iowa, soybean processing plant ignited.&#8221;</p>
<p>• Hexane explosions have occurred in Italy, Mexico (200 dead) and South Africa, often killing or injuring chemical plant workers.</p>
<p>• In 2001, a truck carrying 4,500 gallons of hexane caught fire and exploded, injuring the truck driver and setting fire to nearby homes.</p>
<p>• Hexane also poses a serious health danger to workers: &#8220;Workers who come in dermal (skin) contact with hexane experience immediate irritation characterized by erythema and hyperemia, and they develop blisters after several hours.&#8221;</p>
<p>• According to The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the permissible exposure level of hexane is 500 parts per million (ppm) for workers with 8-hour exposures. Exposures of 800 ppm for 15 minutes can cause respiratory tract and eye irritation, as well as symptoms of carnosis. At higher exposure levels, workers can develop symptoms of nausea, vertigo and headaches.</p>
<p>• &#8220;Workers who are chronically exposed to hexane levels ranging from 400 to 600 ppm, with occasional exposures of up to 2,500 ppm, have developed polyneuropathy, a neurological disorder. In these cases, distal symmetrical muscle weakness is common, and nerve biopsies show nerve damage. A recently published peer-reviewed article in <em>Environmental Health Perspectives</em> hypothesizes that occupational exposure to hexane may contribute to the development of Leber hereditary optic neuropathy, a disease that causes loss of vision. <p>• Almost no research has been done to test the toxicity of hexane residues in foods &#8212; not on adults, nor infants.</p>
<p>• &#8220;According to EPA reports, small quantities of solvent (up to 0.2 percent by volume of oil) can be present in oil after extraction, even after solvent recovery by film evaporators and a distillation stripper. A Swiss team of scientists tested various oils and found hexane residues in some of the tested oils.&#8221;</p>
<p>• Test results from the Cornucopia Institute&#8217;s lab tests (funded in part by NaturalNews): < 10 ppm hexane residues in soy oil. Soy meal: 21 ppm hexane residues. Soy grits: 14 ppm hexane residues.</p>

For example, Gardein™ is a Canadian company that produces meat analogs &#8212; soy-based &#8220;chicken&#8221; and soy-based &#8220;beef&#8221; &#8212; for brands and private labels including Yves Cuisine®, Morningstar Farms®, Trader Joe&#8217;s, and It&#8217;s All Good Foods®, and for grocery store prepared foods departments such as Whole Foods. While the company describe its process for making these meat analogs as &#8220;pure and simple,&#8221; it does not mention that it starts with hexane-extracted soy protein.</em>&#8221;</p>
<p>In the United States, there is currently only one way of knowing for sure that the soy-based foods you purchase is free of hexane contaminants: <strong>Look for the green USDA Organic seal on the package</strong>:</p>
<p>• Beware of claims of &#8220;natural&#8221; soy &#8212; Even hexane-extracted soy can be called &#8220;natural.&#8221;</p>
<p>• Beware of claims of &#8220;made with organic soy&#8221; &#8212; Such products may still contain non-organic soy-based ingredients extracted with hexane.</p>
<p>• Beware of &#8220;veggie&#8221; products containing texturized vegetable protein. Many of these products not only likely contain hexane chemical residues; they also are usually made with <strong>yeast extract</strong>, a flavoring ingredient that contains MSG, a neurotoxin. (Imagine the impact of these two neurotoxins in combination&#8230;)</p>

<p>Not only are these food companies bathing their soy products in a neurotoxic chemical, <strong>the FDA is once again asleep at the wheel</strong>, allowing dangerous chemicals to remain prevalent in the food supply while doing virtually nothing to warn consumers or ban the toxic chemical from soy product processing.</p>
<p>Thus, We the People once again find ourselves in the position of being poisoned by the food companies and betrayed by the FDA. If that sounds familiar, it&#8217;s because this has happened again and again with toxic ingredients ranging from monosodium glutamate and aspartame to sodium nitrite and petrochemical food colorings.</p>
<p>Big Food and the FDA, in fact, almost appear to be conspiring to poison the population&#8230; which just happens to create a windfall of profits for Big Pharma &#8212; the other corporate master of the FDA.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a clever scam: Poison the people with hidden chemicals in the food supply, then when their organs start to fail, drug them on monopoly-priced pharmaceuticals. Meanwhile, the FDA enforces the whole thing by outlawing real food (like raw almonds or raw organic cow&#8217;s milk), thereby forcing people to eat chemically-contaminated processed food.</p>

<p>There is no limit to the insanity of what goes into the food supply when profits are at stake, it seems. And this use of the toxic solvent hexane to process soy that&#8217;s used in infant formula, protein bars and &#8220;veggie&#8221; products is yet another example of why <strong>it&#8217;s smart to avoid nearly ALL factory-made foods, regardless of their health claims</strong>.</p>
<p>When you grow your own food (or just buy fresh produce and food staples) and prepare it in your own kitchen, you know what goes into it. You also know what&#8217;s NOT in it (such as hexane or melamine). It&#8217;s the only sure way to protect yourself and your family from the dangers of processed foods made by food commodity giants that are motivated by money, not concern for your health. In fact, the attitude about chemical contaminants by many U.S. food giants mirrors the attitude about melamine in infant formula as demonstrated by China&#8217;s powdered milk manufacturers: &#8220;Ah, what&#8217;s a little melamine gonna hurt anyway?&#8221;</p>
<p>But it does hurt. It hurts your health and harms your children. There are 10,000 children on dialysis machines in China who can prove it to you. And that&#8217;s why, in my opinion, these companies using hexane-contaminated soy protein in their products deserve to be publicly exposed, heavily fined and perhaps even shut down and run out of business.</p>
<p><strong>Why modern society looks the other way on chemical contamination of foods</strong></p>
<p>Why are companies run out of business when <em>salmonella</em> is found in their peanut butter (for example), but when toxic chemical solvents are found in their soy proteins, the mainstream media says nothing, the FDA does nothing, and the whole world pretends it&#8217;s all just business as usual?</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll tell you why. There is an irrational, false belief that continues to permeate society today, and it&#8217;s founded in the lies of <em>Scientism</em> and the reductionist approach to western thinking. That false belief is that <strong>chemicals are good for you, but bacteria are bad for you</strong>.</p>
<p>This is the whole thinking behind the widespread use of antibiotics (which actually promote hospital superbugs) and the mass fumigation of California almonds (just to make sure they&#8217;re no longer RAW). It&#8217;s the reason why raw milk is outlawed, but chemically-contaminated soy milk is legal. It&#8217;s the reason why the FDA views the food supply as safe <em>only if it&#8217;s sterile</em>. It&#8217;s <strong>the big lie about food safety</strong>, and virtually every mainstream newspaper, TV station and journalist buys into it.</p>
<p>They think salmonella is deadly dangerous, but MSG, aspartame and sodium nitrite are just fine. They believe in the lie that chemicals are safe as long as the FDA doesn&#8217;t say anything against them!</p>
<p>But it&#8217;s hogwash. A sterile food supply is a dead food supply. And dead foods don&#8217;t keep people alive for very long. Hence the slow, torturous death of our aging population. Our people are not <em>living</em> longer; they&#8217;re <em>dying</em> longer!</p>

<p><strong>Big Pharma&#8217;s Latest Insanity? A &#8220;PolyPill&#8221; Combining Five Different Drugs Into One Pill</strong></p>

<p>What do you get when you combine cholesterol medication, three different blood pressure drugs and aspirin into a single pharmaceutical pill? If you believe the drug company that funded its own study on this chemical cocktail, you get a wonder drug that has all the &#8220;benefits&#8221; of five different drugs with no more side effects than a single drug!</p>
<p>That&#8217;s the story from Bangalore, India, anyway, where 2000 citizens of India were recruited into a clinical trial to test these drugs. The use of low-income citizens in developing nations as guinea pigs is now a common Big Pharma practice, by the way. It&#8217;s cheaper than using Americans as guinea pigs, and the risk of lawsuits from harm or death is much lower in such countries.</p>
<p>According to the results of this study which was funded by the pharmaceutical company hoping to sell this drug, the study subjects taking the five medications in combination had no more side effects than those taking each medication individually.</p>
<p>And thus, it was declared that <strong>the more pharmaceuticals you take, the safer they become!</strong></p>
<p><strong>Is the MSM on drugs, too?</strong></p>
<p>The Associated Press gushed all over this news, saying the Polypill has been &#8220;a dream for a decade,&#8221; and that this company-funded clinical trial &#8220;proved the skeptics wrong.&#8221;</p>
<p>The AP even quoted a doctor (Dr. Robert Harrington, spokesperson for the American College of Cardiology) as saying this Polypill should be part of President Obama&#8217;s health care reform plan.</p>
<p>How do they know the Polypill actually improved health? They don&#8217;t, really: They only know that it changed some numbers on laboratory reports: Blood pressure numbers and cholesterol numbers, namely. But <strong>did people actually live longer</strong>? Did they suffer fewer heart attacks? Did they experience improved circulation or bloodflow?</p>
<p>Of course not. Big Pharma almost never measures real-world effects in its studies &#8212; it only measures &#8220;biomarkers&#8221; that greatly oversimplify the true causes of disease. High blood pressure, for example, is not a disease all by itself; it&#8217;s merely a <em>symptom of an imbalance</em> that needs to be corrected on a fundamental level. Artificially lowering blood pressure does absolutely nothing to make a person healthier in the long run. In fact, it can cause greatly reduced circulation throughout the body.</p>
<p><strong>Want more health? Take more drugs</strong></p>
<p>That Big Pharma and the Mainstream Media (MSM) now think the answer to poor health is to combine multiple synthetic chemicals into one &#8220;medication cocktail&#8221; is a disturbing sign of the dangerous dissociation the industry has with the real world. And why stop at five drugs in combination? Why not combine twenty drugs? I can see the headlines now: &#8220;Twenty Drugs Proven as Safe as One Drug!&#8221;</p>
<p>Of course, we all know it&#8217;s easy to prove anything &#8212; no matter how ludicrous &#8212; in the corrupt world of for-profit medicine. Yesterday, I wrote about how the Department of Health and Human Services approved a fictitious medical review panel led by a dead dog named &#8220;Truper Dawg.&#8221; (<a href="http://www.naturalhealthnewsarticles.com/how-safe-are-medical-products-which-are-passed-as-safe/" >see here</a>)</p>
<p>If they can get a dead dog to head up a government-approved medical review board in the United States, I suppose it&#8217;s not so amazing that an industry-funded clinical trial operated out of Bangalore, India would declare five drugs to be no more dangerous than any one of them alone. </p>
<p><strong>It&#8217;s not really safe, it&#8217;s just no more dangerous than any other drug</strong></p>
<p>Seriously, I sometimes wonder if these researchers deserve some sort of award for being the Dumbest People In the World. As if single-drug pharmaceuticals weren&#8217;t killing enough people already, now they want to combine multiple drugs into one pill and claim it has the exact same safety as the very same drugs killing hundreds of thousands of people around the world each year! Is this really something to tout in your marketing materials?</p>
<p>If herbs were as dangerous as pharmaceuticals, they&#8217;d be immediately banned by the FDA. If soft drinks were as dangerous as pharmaceuticals, they&#8217;d be pulled from the shelves. Peanuts aren&#8217;t even close to the danger levels of pharmaceuticals, and yet they were pulled from store shelves as if they carried the Bubonic Plague. But when it comes to drugs, no measure of safety is really required, and new drugs are labeled &#8220;safe&#8221; as long as they kill no more people than the old drugs that have already killed so many!</p>
<p>But hey, why stop at five drugs in a single pill? Why not just <strong>add pharmaceuticals to food</strong>? Why not &#8220;fortify&#8221; salt with antidepressants? Or make loaves of bread with cholesterol drugs? Or drip fluoride into the water supply?&#8230;. Oops, they already do that, don&#8217;t they?</p>
<p>You get my point. <strong>More chemicals are not the answer</strong> to our global health problems. And the only combination medicine you&#8217;ll ever see me swallowing is a large glass full of fresh juice made from living, organic garden vegetables and delicious fruits. That living beverage contains <strong>more than 10,000 medicinal compounds</strong> made by Mother Nature, not some spooky med lab in Bangalore playing &#8220;Pharmaceutical Frankenstein.&#8221;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When medical or health products, including drugs, are supposedly reviewed by independent parties and passed as safe, what exactly goes on behind the scenes? Are the procedures robust? What exactly does &#8220;FDA Approved&#8221; mean?</p>

<p><strong>Department of Health and Human Services Approves Fictitious Medical Device Review Board Led by a Dead Dog</strong></p>

<p>Just how trustworthy are medical review boards that review and approve medical devices? In a Government Accountability Office (GAO) sting, investigators were able to invent and register a fictitious review board with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), complete with a fictitious panel of doctors and a canine president named &#8220;Truper Dawg&#8221; (named after a real pet dog that had long since passed away).</p>
<p>Names of other board members on the fictitious organization approved by the Department of Health and Human Services included &#8220;April Phuls&#8221; and &#8220;Timothy Wittless.&#8221; These names apparently did not raise any suspicions at the HHS. (Perhaps the U.S. government thought the review board was being run by a group of badly-named rappers?)</p>
<p>But that&#8217;s not all: To check out the credibility of existing Independent Review Boards (IRBs), the GAO invented a fictitious medical product called Adhesiabloc &#8212; an adhesive gel used as a kind of &#8220;stomach superglue&#8221; following surgery. A proposal to begin a clinical trial of this adhesive gel on humans was submitted to an FDA-recognized IRB company, and the company approved it! This, despite the fact that the clinical trial called for pouring <b>one liter</b> of this adhesive gel into the stomach of patients.<br />
<b>Misleading the misleaders</b><br />
The IRB that fell for the ruse was Coast IRB, LLC of Colorado Springs, which after being caught, charged that the GAO investigators violated federal law by misrepresenting themselves when they submitted false credentials to the review company.</p>
<p>But isn&#8217;t this exactly what a medical review company is supposed to notice and prevent in the first place? This company seems to think they can trust everything they&#8217;re told by any person or company applying for review, regardless of whether the medical products in question make any sense at all.</p>
<p>Coast IRB is one of 6,300 IRBs (Independent Review Boards) that certify pharmaceutical trials and medical device trials for consideration by the FDA.</p>
<p>The next time you considering using an &#8220;FDA-approved&#8221; medical device or pharmaceutical, remember this simple truth: <b>In America, the Department of Health and Human Services will certify a fictitious review company headed by a dog!</b></p>
<p>If the GAO can pull this off after running the sting on just 3 companies, imagine how many of the 6,300 IRBs are certifying fraudulent, dangerous or outright deadly medical devices and pharmaceuticals right now!</p>
<p>What this fiasco really shows is that <b>the medical device oversight system in America today is a complete joke</b>. With the right paperwork, a medical device company could get review board approval for practically anything. And with the HHS accepting the credentials of fictitious review boards, the overseers of the review boards are so incompetent in their own jobs that the credibility of the whole system must be called into question.</p>
<p>Combine this with the corruption at the FDA, and you have to really wonder: Just how safe are the medical devices and pharmaceuticals being used by over a hundred million Americans right now? The answer, of course, is that many of them may have simply been rubber-stamped by dishonest or incompetent review board companies and HHS bureaucrats who have now been utterly exposed as either criminally dishonest or shockingly incompetent.</p>

<p>Things can get a little confusing because there are different pH levels in the body - the pH of cells, of blood, of saliva, of urine, are all different. And then different sources of information seem to tell us different things about what is alkalizing and what is acidifying, or about how alkaline is actually ideal. <p><strong>The Truth about Alkalizing Your Blood</strong></p>

<p>The natural health field is saturated with advice and products that are built around the premise of alkalizing your blood. The truth is that what you eat has little to no effect on the pH of your blood, which is tightly regulated by a complex system of buffers that are continuously at work to maintain a range of 7.35 to 7.45, which is slightly more alkaline than pure water. What you eat is a critical determinant of your health status, and the foods and beverages that you choose do tend to have acid or alkaline-forming effects on your overall system, but you cannot &#8220;alkalize your blood&#8221; through your food choices. Understanding this concept is essential to identifying and differentiating between hype and substance in the natural health arena.</p>
<p>If the pH of your blood falls below 7.35, the result is a condition called acidosis, a state that leads to central nervous system depression. Severe acidosis - where blood pH falls below 7.00 - can lead to a coma and even death.</p>
<p>If the pH of your blood rises above 7.45, the result is alkalosis. Severe alkalosis can also lead to death but through a different mechanism; alkalosis causes all of the nerves in your body to become hypersensitive and over-excitable, often resulting in muscle spasms, nervousness, and convulsions. It`s usually the convulsions that cause death in severe cases.</p>
<p>The bottom line is that if you`re out and about, your body is doing an adequate job of keeping your blood pH somewhere between 7.35 to 7.45, and the foods that you are eating are not causing any wild deviations of your blood pH.</p>
<p>So what`s up with all the hype about the need to alkalize your body? And what`s to be made of the claim that being too acidic can cause osteoporosis, kidney stones, and a number of other undesirable health challenges?</p>
<p>As usual, the answers to such questions about human health can be found by understanding basic principles of human physiology. So let`s take a look at the fundamentals of pH and how your body regulates the acid-alkaline balance of its fluids on a moment-to-moment basis.</p>
<p>pH is a measure of how acidic or alkaline a liquid is. With respect to your health, the liquids involved are your body fluids, which can be categorized into the following two main groups:</p>
<p>1. Intracellular fluid, which is the fluid found in all of your cells - Intracellular fluid is often called cytosol and makes up about two-thirds of the total amount of fluid in your body.</p>
<p>2. Extracellular fluid, which is the fluid found outside of your cells - Extracellular fluids are further classified as one of two types:</p>
<p>* Plasma, which is fluid that makes up your blood</p>
<p>* Interstitial fluid, which occupies all of the spaces that surround your tissues</p>
<p>Interstitial fluid includes the fluids found in your eyes, lymphatic system, joints, nervous system, and between the protective membranes that surround your cardiovascular, respiratory, and abdominal cavities.</p>
<p>Your blood (plasma) needs to maintain a pH of 7.35 to 7.45 for your cells to function properly. Why your cells require your blood to maintain a pH in this range to stay healthy is beyond the scope of this article, but the most important reason is that all of the proteins that work in your body have to maintain a specific geometric shape to function, and the three-dimensional shapes of the proteins in your body are affected by the tiniest changes in the pH of your body fluids.</p>
<p>The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. A liquid that has a pH of 7 is considered to be neutral (pure water is generally considered to have a neutral pH). Fluids that have a pH below 7 - like lemon juice and coffee - are considered to be acidic. And fluids that have a pH above 7 - like human blood and milk of magnesia - are considered to be alkaline.</p>
<p>It`s important to note that on the pH scale, each number represents a tenfold difference from adjacent numbers; in other words, a liquid that has a pH of 6 is ten times more acidic than a liquid that has a pH of 7, and a liquid with a pH of 5 is one hundred times more acidic than pure water. Most carbonated soft drinks (pop) have a pH of about 3, making them about ten thousand times more acidic than pure water. Please remember this the next time you think about drinking a can of pop.</p>
<p>When you ingest foods and liquids, the end products of digestion and assimilation of nutrients often results in an acid or alkaline-forming effect - the end products are sometimes called acid ash or alkaline ash.</p>
<p>Also, as your cells produce energy on a continual basis, a number of different acids are formed and released into your body fluids. These acids - generated by your everyday metabolic activities - are unavoidable; as long as your body has to generate energy to survive, it will produce a continuous supply of acids.</p>
<p>So there are two main forces at work on a daily basis that can disrupt the pH of your body fluids. These forces are the acid or alkaline-forming effects of foods and liquids that you ingest, and the acids that you generate through regular metabolic activities. Fortunately, your body has three major mechanisms at work at all times to prevent these forces from shifting the pH of your blood outside of the 7.35 to 7.45 range.</p>
<p>These mechanisms are:</p>
<p>1. Buffer Systems</p>
<p>* Carbonic Acid-Bicarbonate Buffer System<br />
* Protein Buffer System<br />
* Phosphate Buffer System</p>
<p>2. Exhalation of Carbon Dioxide</p>
<p>3. Elimination of Hydrogen Ions via Kidneys</p>
<p>It`s not in the scope of this article to discuss the mechanisms listed above in detail. For this article, the relevant point is that these systems are in place to prevent dietary, metabolic, and other factors from pushing the pH of your blood outside of the 7.35 to 7.45 range.</p>
<p>When people encourage you to &#8220;alkalize your blood,&#8221; most of them mean that you should eat plenty of foods that have an alkaline-forming effect on your system. The reason for making this suggestion is that the vast majority of highly processed foods - like white flour products and white sugar - have an acid-forming effect on your system, and if you spend years eating a poor diet that is mainly acid-forming, you will overwork some of the buffering systems mentioned above to a point where you could create undesirable changes in your health.</p>
<p>For example, your phosphate buffer system uses different phosphate ions in your body to neutralize strong acids and bases. About 85% of the phosphate ions that are used in your phosphate buffer system come from calcium phosphate salts, which are structural components of your bones and teeth. If your body fluids are regularly exposed to large quantities of acid-forming foods and liquids, your body will draw upon its calcium phosphate reserves to supply your phosphate buffer system to neutralize the acid-forming effects of your diet. Over time, this may lead to structural weakness in your bones and teeth.</p>
<p>Drawing on your calcium phosphate reserves at a high rate can also increase the amount of calcium that is eliminated via your genito-urinary system, which is why a predominantly acid-forming diet can increase your risk of developing calcium-rich kidney stones.</p>
<p>This is just one example of how your buffering systems can be overtaxed to a point where you experience negative health consequences. Since your buffering systems have to work all the time anyway to neutralize the acids that are formed from everyday metabolic activities, it`s in your best interest to follow a diet that doesn`t create unnecessary work for your buffering systems.</p>
<p><strong>Acid and Alkaline-Forming Effects of Common Foods</strong></p>
<p>Generally speaking, most vegetables and fruits have an alkaline-forming effect on your body fluids.</p>
<p>Most grains, animal foods, and highly processed foods have an acid-forming effect on your body fluids.</p>
<p>Your health is best served by a good mix of nutrient-dense, alkaline and acid-forming foods; ideally, you want to eat more alkaline-forming foods than acid-forming foods to have the net acid and alkaline-forming effects of your diet match the slightly alkaline pH of your blood.</p>
<p>The following lists indicate which common foods have an alkaline-forming effect on your body fluids, and which ones result in acid ash formation when they are digested and assimilated into your system.</p>
